SMILE MAKEOVER.....Using Dental Veneers, a conservative option..

DENTAL VENEERS:
Dental veneers are used to cover a variety of dental problems involving teeth in the smile zone either to improve your smile and appearance or protect the tooth surface from damage.

DENTAL VENEERS ARE USED TO CORRECT MANY DENTAL PROBLEMS:

  • Space between the teeth
  • Crooked or crowded teeth
  • Poorly shaped teeth
  • Permanently extrinsic or intrinsic stained teeth
  • Stained filling
  • Chipped ,broken or worn out teeth
  • Prematurely aged appearance
  • Provide uniform color ,shape, size and length of teeth
  • Discolored tooth due to trauma ,root canal treated teeth, tetracycline stains ,fluorosis stains
  • Malaligned teeth

Dental veneers are made from porcelain or composite resin,

  • Porcelain veneers are stain resistant, therefore will not pick up permanent stains from cigarette smoking or from dark or richly colored liquids or spices.Porcelain veneers resist stains better than composite resin.
  • Porcelain veneers better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth which is not possible with other bonding material like composite resin.
  • Porcelain veneers gives :Natural teeth appearance,Gum tissues tolerates porcelain well.
  • The color of porcelain veneer can be selected such that it makes dark teeth appear whiter.
  • Composite resin:Composite veneers are accomplished in one visit but an adequate amount of tooth structure is removed to allow for the placement of composite resin in the desired shape.
  • Porcelain veneers are more expensive than composite resin

ALTERNATIVE TO DENTAL VENEERS:
  • Dental Crown:
Veneers don't require extensive shaping prior to the procedure that crowns do,yet offer a stronger, more aesthetic alternative

TIPS TO BE FOLLOWED AFTER PLACEMENT OF VENEERS:
  • Avoid biting with your front teeth, biting with front teeth can lead to dislodge or fall off veneers,if its chipped out or broken it cannot be repaired,it can only be replaced ,hence avoid nail biting ,chewing pencil or hard objects with excessive force.
  • Tooth with veneers can still experience decay hence maintain good oral hygiene

veneers are not good choice for
    • Individuals with decayed teeth ,gum disease, fractured teeth, large dental filling, inadequate amount of enamel.
    • individual who grind or clench their teeth are poor candidate for porcelain veneers,as these activities can cause the veneer to crack or chip.
    • severely malaligned or malpositioned teeth .orthodontic treatment may be required to obtain desired result
HOW LONG WILL THE DENTAL VENEERS LAST?
Porcelain veneers can last for many years usually 10-15 years,if you take good care of them using good oral hygiene and avoiding using them to crack or chew hard objects.
