Lets talk more about pit and fissure
The top surfaces of your teeth (where the chewing takes place) aren't smooth and flat. They are criss-crossed with tiny hills and valleys - called pits and fissures that are actually smaller than the bristles on your tooth brush.
Pits and fissure are natural in tooth anatomy however they deepen over time. Deep pits and fissure are the small holes and lines that can be seen on the biting surface of tooth. food easily gets trapped there and harvest bacteria leading to dental caries.
These sealents are recommended for the kids between 2 to 14 years of age showing signs of deep pits and fissure.
HOW THESE SEALENTS ARE APPLIED?
- Tooth is cleaned and dried.
- A gel is applied to the chewing surface of the tooth
- Tooth is now thoroughly washed and again dried
- Sealant material is then applied
- light unit hardens the material and you are done
HOW LONG DOES THIS PROCEDURE TAKE?
The process is usually quick and straightforward, taking only a few minutes for each tooth.
